New Look

I am trying out a new look with the blog again. I was tired of the old one not displaying things properly. So it may look funny here for a few days until I perfect it, the code has a few problems with it.

Turkey Run

We love Turkey Run State park and have already been lucky enough to go there this year.  Two weeks ago we had a warm spell and headed south to get our Park pass for the year and do a little hiking.  It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be, nothing like the last time we went, but there were quite a few people enjoying the warmth.  We stayed on the sunnier side of the river, there was still snow in places and it was pretty muddy.  We headed a different direction than before and made it to the old coal mine and the covered bridge.

The walk part is for horses

Look at Josh hold up that rock!

Behold the power of lightning, this tree was all kinds of broken

Boyne 2

Ducks walking on water

Charlevoix lighthouse, you can kinda see the crazy iced over railing in the background. It was really slippy and signs everywhere saying not for walking, but who listens to signs?

Wine trail on Old Mission Peninsula on a snowy day. I'm sure in the summer the Peninsula drive is beautiful,  sometimes the road is right along the lake.  We got lots of wine and we were the only people at each winery.

This place had the cutest Bernese Mountain dog as their mascot who bounces up to greet you.  He jumped on Josh and they were face to face, sweet giant dog.

Boyne

More to come from our trip to Boyne last month.  Laura and I cross country skied while the boys downhill skied.  The trails were very nice and we only met a few people.

State Museum

Last weekend we went to the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis.  With the price of admission you could check out the art fair.  Admission also included the traveling Lincoln exhibit.  I did not know that there are no more Lincolns, they had a family history of not having many children and dying young.  The last of the Lincolns died in the 80's I believe.  There was lots of political information that was too much to absorb in one sitting but the old photos and maps were interesting. This is also were the Brass Ring awards were held that we went to in 2008.  Similar to the ADDYs that we went to last week.

Tonight was a good night

I'd have to say tonight went pretty good. It was the awards ceremony for the AAF Addys North Central Indiana. We knew we had won something since they had called us twice and were very persistent that we come to the event. But, we had no idea how good it would go. We won 4 Silver Awards, 2 Gold awards and the Best in Show! I realized when I got in to the office today I didn't remember exactly what we won... We won 3 Silvers, 2 Gold, a Judge's Choice, and the Best in Show! There was only one place that won more then us and I am guessing their team is a bit bigger then 7 people with 2 designers.

Couldn't have asked for much better then that. Our Gold awards now go on to the District Finals (which I did almost all of the word on both of the golds) and we'll see how they do there. I was blown away that we got best in show. It was for an Ad campaign for a law firm, we make law awesome!

All in all it was a great night. I saw some of the other designers I know around town, had some good food and delicious cake, and kicked ass!

*Sorry for the goofy hair, it is out of control, and the goofy face. I had to go up there 7 times and make a little speech without sounding like an idiot who had been up there 7 times. Great photos by Christina.
